قلعه دل مونت * ایتالیا*
این قلعه حدود 700سال قدمت دارد و به دستور شاه فردیک دوم ساخته شده است ولی ظاهرا پادشاه فردریک هیچ وقت این قلعه را ندیده و قبل از به اتمام رسیدن قلعه ازدنیا رفته بوده است. ..
معماری منحصر به فرد , این قلعه را مورد توجه گردشگران قرار داده است , که ترکیبی از معماری باستانی در ایتالیا و معماری اسلامی و سبک گوتیک در شمال اروپا می باشد.
به علت ارتفاع زیاد این قلعه انتظار می رود که دارای چند طبقه باشد , اما فقط دارای 2 طبقه می باشد. در گذشته دل مونت را یک قلعه نظامی می دانستند اما با توجه به موقعیت قلعه متوجه شده اند که به عنوان زندان از آن استفاده می شده است .

Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen (1194-1250) ordered the castle built in the year 1240 A.D. What is not clear is if there was a castle or some other building already there in 1240. A navigational reference from that time (navigation by boat, that is) mentioned a building on the same hill that could be seen from the Mar Adriático (Adriatic Sea) and that could be used as a point of reference, but nothing else is known. Frederick never visited the castle. He died before it was completed. That is too bad. I think he would have been impressed.
The castle is very tall, but still has only two floors. A unique piece of medieval military architecture, Castel del Monte is a successful blend of elements from classical antiquity, the Islamic Orient and north European Cistercian Gothic. It is generally agreed that the castle was not built as a fortress, and, in fact, was mostly used as a jail.
